Rule 12) How NOT to post on this forum: Do not ask "what's best" because this question cannot be answered objectively. Each and everyone has their own view about what's best in a certain area. The best is what works best for you! With that said, what are you looking to do? Full DVD backups that you can burn onto a DVD-R or a file that you can play back on your computer? Edit: Damn man 4 min response to my post!
PS ... DVD Maniac ... Instant Copy ... that's for Full backups of a DVD? Where do I find a guide/software for that? I don't remember seeing that guide. I will look again though. Thanks again for replies Bryan PSSS ... I just read up on a couple of your methods you like ... Dvd2one in particular ... it was in the Speed over Quality section of the guides ... you said you use that for movie only when movie is 1:30 to 2:00 long, correct? How does the quality come out on that?
Hi, I use dvd2one mostly on low action, animation and kids films because I find the video quality inferior. If the film is 1:30 or less then using dvd2one shouldn't make that much of a difference. If however I use it to do something like LOTR or Harry Potter, Braveheart... Something over 2 hours and/or High action scenes, then I do see a difference. I will probably dump dvd2one all together and go with the new instantcopy 8, since it allows for movie only now as well as full disc backup and even partial backup. You can keep the whole movie and extras and selectively leave out the extras you don't want. I will use this for everything now except movie only over 2 hours (I will still use dvd2svcd with CCE for that) Well maybe I will still need dvd2one for easily joining multiple movies. I just put the Rambo and Die Hard series onto one dvd-r each. Using first dvd2svcd on the movies, then dvd2one to join them. Hope all of this mess helps you instaed of confusing you.
Haha ... I understand I just didn't think that people got that out of hand. I thought everyone was grown adults here (most of us). I read on the Generel Forum they just banned talk of polictics for the same reason. It's sad that people have to get that worked up over things (the posters that is, not the Mods) I just wanted to make sure that was all I was saying wrong. Obviously there have been problems in the past. But back to my search for enlightenment ... I was reading up on Instant Copy a little before work today and I saw some people said it didn't work on all DVD's (protected) ... that you had to use a 3rd party device as well. What did they mean? Thanks for all the information though ... I appreciate the time and explanations. It's been a great help in addition to the library of information available on Doom9 @ Steve ... Yea I see that, thank you for explaining and DVD Maniac as well. I can see how poeple could take politics so serious because that's just how people are. But I NEVER would have imagined that people could get so bent out of shape discussing their favorite methods of transfering their DVDs to DVD-R(W). Also I thought that is what they meant but I was not sure, thanks for the verification KSpree. BryanG:)
