I'd be interested to hear from any Members who have had this modification fitted to an automatic. I read on another forum that fitting the poly bush to an automatic can cause what some quoted as an 'annoying' noise to be heard in the cabin especially at idle, caused by the differences in the manufacturing materials. Is this something of nothing or is it worth considering when weighing up the pro/cons of replacing the OEM bush? As this is a modification I plan to do fairly soon - my bush is already showing signs of deterioration - your views/comments would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks, Jon
Ello, I changed mine 2 weeks ago to a powerflex from parts for Volvos on line, and I will have to say I love the extra noise through the dash area, you will notice it on start up first thing, and as you accelerate hard you will hear the sound of the engine a lot more, but mine is a V70 T5 Auto so when you put your foot down, you will hear the rumble a lot more. But if you just plod down the road you might tell its been changed. If this puts you off changing to a powerflex, you can always fit a standard one, and some chap on here suggests you fit the new one at 45% to how you should, this way it will last longer….. Andy.
I agree with Nightmare1971, I did mine on thursday this week. took all of 15 minutes thanks to the posts on here! I would agree that there is a little more noisy through the revs but I like it and its no more noisy at tickover. It does improve the gearchange alot. Mines a T5 too though.

Thanks for your replies guys. I think on the subject of noise, as long as it is only noise, and not a 'shaking' cabin - I also enjoy the serenity in my rolling lounge - then a little more audible grunt from these 5 cyl beasties will be welcomed in abundance!
Aside from a little extra engine roar when the engine is being worked and when the engine initially fires into life after starting you probably wouldn't notice it had been fitted. Apparantly if you have a dash rattle fitting the poly bush does make it more pronouced but I didn't have a rattle so can't comment on that. Btw mines an 850 R Auto HTH.
i Bought a powerflex bush and dint like the noise so i drilled 6 holes in both halves to give it a bit more flex. Have had no problems and is about half as noisey. but you cant beat the sound of a five cylinder
