Thanks Phil, I've played with that function, but from what I can tell there's no way to put the grid and nudge section back where it used to be, underneath the main toolbar. Moving them horizontally just re-orders the different elements. I don't actually want to get rid of these elements...I just want to be able to see them.

I use a 24" monitor set to it's max resolution (1280 x 1920, I believe). This feels like the BARE MINIMUM to me, as I can just barely get all the stuff on there that I need to see (and I'm not even looking as the compensation stuff). I would HATE to use PT on anything smaller than a 24" monitor. It would be nice if there was a pref to turn off all the hand-holding labels in the mix window. Just as there is a pref to turn off tool tips. That would go a long way toward alleviating this situation.
